The Wesley Porirua team works hard to grow the capacity of the local community to ensure Porirua is a good place to live. We work closely with many local agencies and support a wide variety of community driven initiatives.
The Wesley Porirua team offer a comprehensive, range of community based services. These include advocacy, counselling, a food bank and parenting services, social work services, youthwork and individual mentoring.

We also host a popular free Recreation Programme open to all young people, every Thursday night from 6pm – 9pm in the Cannons Creek Opportunity Centre, 4 Mentor Lane (upstairs by The Cage).
Our Foodbank is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. All who need them are welcome to food parcels. If a person is experiencing ongoing difficulties our volunteer advocates are able to help them explore why this might be happening and possible solutions.

Engage is a programme for young people transitioning from school to work or further education who need extra support to help them ‘find their feet’. Operating in schools in the Porirua area – the programme provides a range of in-school sessions, outdoor activities, and one on one mentoring opportunities.
