Community Development

Wesley works within the community by encouraging people and groups to identify their goals, and helping them to reach those goals.

Examples of this include the way our foodbank, advocacy and youthwork services all came about as a result of being identified as specific needs for the Porirua Community which Wesley responded to by adding to our services and employing local community members to deliver the services and solutions.

Another example, is Wesley's work in conjunction with the Ratana Church in Waitangirua which identified an under utilised community hall, that is now being used for a range of community uses including after school programmes, recreation evenings and school holiday programmes.
