Youth Work
WCA works closely with local agencies to support a wide variety of community driven 'Youth' initiatives, primarily in Canons Creek, Waitangirua, and Central Wellington.
Evening Recreation and After School Programmes
In Waitangirua and Canon's Creek, Porirua, recreation nights for young people operate two evenings per week and regularly attract over 30 attendees.
“Waitangirua 235” is an after school youth recreation programme that runs weekly throughout the school term over a 10 week period and regularly attracts over 100 youth per month. Rangatahi Initiatives;
WCA is proud to work alongside a number of 'hard to reach' communities (eg Mongrel Mob and Black Power). This journey is proving to be very rewarding for the members, their whanau and WCA.
The journey has included joint rangatahi (youth) development programmes, memorials for people in the community who have died as well as supporting 'P' rehab courses.
