If you’d like to not only support Wesley Community Action financially, but also help spread the word about the work being done in your community, fundraising for us is a great way to do it.
You can choose what you’d like to do – it could be a physical or mental challenge, or maybe a social event…or maybe you can help out others and ask for a donation when you do so.
Whatever you do, make it personal. Let people know why it’s important to you, why you care about supporting Wesley Community Action, and what their donation can help achieve.
How does it work?
- Decide what you’d like to do for your fundraising. It could be taking part in an organised event, or doing something of your own. You could do it alone or get other people involved as well. There are some ideas at the bottom of this page.
- Create your very own fundraising page. Explain why you’re doing what you’re doing, why it’s important to you and set an ambitious, but achievable fundraising target.
- We’ll approve your page and send you a Fundraising Guide that will give you more ideas on how to get the best out of your fundraising.
- Get going with your challenge, keep encouraging people to donate and watch your progress on your page.

How about a sporting event?
There are hundreds of events happening in New Zealand each year. Fun runs, marathons, Ironman events, cycling, mountaineering and much, much more. Participating in these events is a great way to take on a challenge and raise money for Wesley Community Action. Use Google to search for events in your chosen area and sport.
Maybe challenge yourself in other ways?
If you have a great voice but only sing in the shower, put on a gig and sell tickets to friends and family. Or maybe you’re a little too attached to your car? Take a pledge to cycle every journey you make that’s under 20km for a month – just about anything can be turned in to a fundraiser.
Are you a great host?
You could hold a dinner party, afternoon tea, quiz night or barbecue. Invite all your friends and family and ask for a donation. You can have fun and support people in your local community at the same time!
Perhaps you could sell something?
Clear some space and sell your unwanted goods on Trade Me. Organise a ‘swap meet’ for old clothes, books or children’s toys – invite your friends and family, promote it in your local area, charge participants an entrance fee.
Want to give something up?
Maybe sugary sweets, your Facebook, your mobile phone or any habit you would rather be without? Or you could take a pledge of silence, or shave your hair off. The possibilities are endless.
Got a special occasion coming up such as a birthday, wedding or other celebration?
You could ask for donations to Wesley Community Action, through your fundraising page, instead of gifts.
