How does the Hauora Kai Co-op work?

We buy fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables from local suppliers and growers every week. Because we buy them in bulk we get them for a good price. That means we can sell them to our members for much less than they would cost in a supermarket.

It’s a great deal for you – and it helps us to provide affordable tāmaota hauora kai (fresh healthy food) to everyone in our community. It’s a numbers thing. The more whānau who buy our packs, the more delicious fresh produce we can get into every pack.

The fruit and vegetables for the Hauora Kai Co-op are delivered to our packing hub in Waitangirua on Tuesday morning where our wonderful volunteers pack them into individual, Co-op-owned chilly bags. They’re then delivered to 6 pick-up points in Cannons Creek, Waitangirua, Whitby and Porirua CBD.

You bring your own bag to your chosen pick-up point and transfer your produce from the chilly bag into your own bag to take home.
