Our Connected Ageing programme is for people aged 60+ in the Hutt Valley who are feeling a bit isolated and are keen to connect with and support others. It’s based at Wesley Rātā Village in Naenae.

Connected Ageing is made up of two parts:

1. A weekly coffee group held at Wesley Rātā Village on Monday afternoons.

2. An individual chat and some initial support from our Connected Ageing facilitator Nikolien Van Wijk.

Weekly coffee group

Our weekly coffee group is for people aged 60+ who want to meet regularly, kānohi ki te kānohi (face to face), and build friendships. We can often help with transport too.

The group currently meets on Monday afternoons at Wesley Rātā Village, 249 Rātā Street, Naenae.

If you’re interested in coming to coffee group, please get in touch with our Connected Ageing facilitator Nikolien Van Wijk. She’ll make sure you feel welcome and introduce you to others in the group.

A $5 koha is appreciated to help cover costs.

Individual support

Our Connected Ageing facilitator, Nikolien Van Wijk, is also available to meet people who are feeling a bit isolated and are keen to weave new connections in the community.

She’ll meet you for a chat to get to know you and find out what kinds of things you enjoy doing – and what sort of people you enjoy spending time with. Then she’ll help you find groups or places where you might meet people who share your interests – or help you find new interests.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, get in touch with Nikolien!
